February 2018

And we’re back…fresh from our Christmas break, and ready to tell and talk about the stories of the Bible.  There were 6 of us at the CinDay February meeting last week.  We had plenty of food and conversation, with people from Dayton, Cincinnati and Brazil.

We talked about the stories we told recently (Jesus’ Baptism from Mark, praying in Gethsemane, a house built on sand), about Brazilian cultural differences that affect story teaching, about the process of starting a Storytelling ministry in a local church, and also about some in-progress scholarly work on the difference between developing a story to be heard vs one intended to be read;in other words, that the sensorium of the literature of the ancient world was predominantly a sensory world of sound… (you can read more about this last topic here.)

Also saw some examples of “story towels” – pictures drawn on inexpensive tea towels, used to teach, remember and tell biblical stories.  You can see some examples.

Hope you can join us for our next meeting – March 22, at GLCC Bethel House, 724 Clifton Drive, Dayton ,OH 45417
