Our second CinDay meeting of 2018 was at our Dayton location. Thanks to Greater Love Christian Church for allowing us to meet there.
There were 4 of us there, a small but interesting collection of people. The conversation roamed from upcoming Lenten tellings, to Marvel Comics movies (can the positive representation of black and female characters in the story redeem the violence of an Action Movie?).
One of our members who will be participating in a “Seven Words” service for Good Friday, was assigned the verse, “Woman, here is your son…Here is your mother.” That led us into a long discussion about the relationship between the disciple and Mary. Was the disciple to become her male guardian? Or, was the woman who knew Jesus longer than any of his disciples, who followed him through at least parts of his ministry, to become the disciple’s guide and mentor?
See, you never know where a good story, and a good discussion will lead you.
